Everything AquaLens does
The complete tour — every lab, tracker, and analysis surface in the app. For the short version, start at the homepage.
Fish & Plant ID From a Photo
Snap a photo and AquaLens identifies fish, plants, algae, and invertebrates from its species library — and tells you when it isn't sure rather than forcing an answer.
Identify and Check Care Needs in One Scan
Get care requirements, compatibility checks, and visual health observations from the same photo.
- Multi-Species Scans — Identify fish and plants, and swipe through multiple species found in the same frame.
- Detailed Care Logs — View temperature ranges, pH requirements, and feeding habits with a single tap.
- Visual Health Triage — AquaLens flags possible issues (like Ich or fin rot) early and provides educational care suggestions — not a diagnosis.

Convinced? Download AquaLens free and start scanning your tank today.
Spot Potential Issues Early
AquaLens's visual triage scanner flags potential anomalies on your fish. Get AI-generated observations and educational care suggestions to help guide conversations with your aquatic veterinarian.
Visual Observations & Accurate Dosing
When the scanner flags a potential concern, the card highlights it with observations and educational suggestions. AquaLens helps you know what to look for, and exactly how much medication to use based on your exact water volume.
- Anomaly Flagging — AI highlights visual signs that may indicate common conditions like Ich, fin damage, or fungal growth.
- Medication Calculator — Calculate dosing amounts for common commercial treatments directly against your true net water volume.
- Monitor & Notify — Track active medication cycles in The Brain. Auto-reminders alert you when the next dose is due or when it's time to run carbon to clear the water.
* AquaLens is an educational tool and does not provide veterinary medical advice. Always consult a qualified aquatic veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment.

Start Your First Tank Right
Get through the Nitrogen Cycle without 'New Tank Syndrome'. The first weeks are when ammonia and nitrite spikes do the most harm, and AquaLens guides you day-by-day to a safely cycled tank.
- Smart Phase Detection — Works out whether you are running a fish-in or fishless cycle from your logged tank data.
- Stall Detection — Alerts you if your beneficial bacteria growth is stalling due to low pH, cold water, or ammonia starvation.
- Dosing Calculators — Measured amounts for liquid ammonia, starter bacteria, and emergency water conditioner dosing.

All-Inclusive Auto-Journaling
Every scan, water test, and dose you record lands in one journal — organized, charted, and searchable across all of your tanks.
One Timeline for Your Tank
Less manual data entry. Scans and photo-read water tests log themselves, and The Brain watches your logged history for changes worth flagging.
- Unified Timeline — Watch your tank evolve. See chemistry spikes alongside new fish additions and parameter shifts.
- Visual Logging — Snap photos of your liquid tests and strips; AquaLens reads the colors and logs the results automatically.
- Proactive AI Alerts — Overstocked? Parameter drift? The Brain cross-checks your logged history and flags possible issues early.

ICP Import & Predictive Intelligence
Go beyond basic test strips. Import professional ICP-OES lab results, auto-analyze water chemistry, and chart trends across dozens of elements that are hard to follow by hand.
Lab Results, Charted and Explained
AquaLens turns raw ICP data into something you can act on. Upload your lab report to see element-by-element breakdowns, trends over time, and AI-generated recommendations.
- One-Tap ICP Import — Upload results from any major ICP lab (ATI, Fauna Marin, Triton). AquaLens parses and organizes 30+ trace elements automatically.
- Parameter Trending — Watch Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium, and every trace element over time. Spot drift before it becomes a crisis.
- AI Predictive Alerts — Trend analysis of your own logged history flags parameter shifts heading out of range while there is still time to correct course.
- Photo Test Scanning — Snap a photo of a liquid test kit or strip. AquaLens reads the colors against the chart and logs the results for you.
- Cross-Reference Engine — AI correlates your water chemistry history with livestock additions, dosing schedules, and maintenance events to identify root causes.

Early Warnings From Your Own Data
Stop reacting to crashes — start preventing them. AquaLens analyzes your logged parameter trends and alerts you when values are heading toward dangerous ranges, while there is still time to act.
- Trend Analysis — AI monitors your calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, pH, salinity, nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia over time.
- Threshold Alerts — Set custom high/low limits for each parameter. Get warnings before you hit them, not after.
- Proactive Protection — Log at least 2 water tests and the AI starts building predictions — the more data, the smarter the warnings.

Your Tank, On Your Home Screen
Add the Tank Pulse widget on iOS or Android and every glance at your phone becomes a tank check: status ring, live parameters, upcoming care, and feeding history — without opening the app.
- Customize Every Widget — Pin a specific tank, follow the most urgent one, show only freshwater or saltwater, or rotate through your whole fleet. Three sizes fit any home-screen grid.
- Live Vitals & Trends — Key parameters with sparklines and change deltas, plus drift callouts like "pH falling" pulled from your logged history.
- Care At a Glance — Due-soon chips for water changes, tests, and trims, with urgent issues surfaced first.
- Act Without Opening the App — Mark a tank fed or check off a care task right from the widget; one tap jumps into the full tank view.
The Tank Pulse widget on a home screen — one per tank, or one for the whole fleet.
One library. 1,750 species.
Point the camera at a fish, plant, coral, or invert and get its care profile: parameters, diet, compatibility, and adult size. The same library powers the free care guides on this site.

Mikrogeophagus ramirezi
Morphology
Adults typically reach 5–7 cm in length. The body is laterally compressed with a vivid blue-violet iridescence overlaid with black vertical bars. A prominent dark spot sits on the flank, and the dorsal fin rays extend into elegant filaments. Females display a distinctive pinkish-red ventral coloration.
Diet
Omnivorous — feeds on small invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus in the wild. In captivity, thrives on high-quality micro pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and occasional vegetable matter.
Ethology
A relatively calm dwarf cichlid that prefers the lower strata of the water column. Best kept in pairs or small groups. May display territorial aggression toward conspecifics during breeding season, but generally peaceful with other community species.
Etymology
Mikrogeophagus — "small earth eater"; ramirezi — named in honor of the ichthyologist Dr. Manuel Ramírez, who first collected the species from the Venezuelan llanos.
