Three steps to a tank that explains itself

1Scanning a fish with the AquaLens camera

Scan it

Point the camera at a test strip, a fish, or a sick fin. AquaLens reads it — no manual color-matching, no guesswork about species.

2Water test results logged automatically into the tank journal

It logs itself

Every scan and reading lands in your tank's journal automatically. The history builds while you just keep doing water changes.

3A predictive alert warning about a drifting parameter

Get warned early

When a trend drifts toward trouble, AquaLens flags it with what to check — while the fix is still a water change, not a loss.

That's the core loop. See everything else AquaLens does →

The website calculates. The app remembers.

Every test, scan, dose, and water change becomes your tank's history — and history is what lets AquaLens warn you early. A calculator answers today's question; the app knows that your nitrate has crept up three weeks running, that this ammonia blip looks like the one before your last algae bloom, and that your reef's alkalinity drifts every time you skip a Sunday. The longer you use it, the smarter it gets about your water.

Super helpful for beginners

It’s a new app, that the owner listens to users and is making tweaks/adjustments. Simple and easy way to track the water chemistry of your tank. Health features use AI to analyze pictures of plants and fish to give a diagnosis.

Built by a Scientist, Powered by Curiosity

Hi, I'm Dave

By day, I run a small, highly specialized research company — engineering proteins, building biosensors, and leading a team of research scientists at the intersection of biotech and national security. Our work is funded by the DoD and DoE, spanning everything from critical mineral recovery to field-deployable biosensing platforms.

AquaLens was born out of my own frustration. Turns out, keeping lab notes isn't that different from keeping tank notes — weighing chemicals, controlling conditions, and obsessing over parameters. I wanted a better, smarter way to log tank data, track expenses, and monitor the overall health of my ecosystems. When I couldn't find an app that did exactly what I needed, I decided to build one myself.

Because it's just me behind the screen, I rely heavily on the community. If you find a bug, have an idea for a new feature, or just want to share a picture of your setup, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
