Red Wag Swordtail Care Guide
Xiphophorus hellerii var. Red Wag · Freshwater Fish

What Red Wag Swordtail look like
The Red Wag Swordtail is a domestic Xiphophorus hellerii morph combining a red body, dark fins, and the male lower sword extension. Females may show the same red and black coloration but lack the sword. The body is longer and more athletic than a platy.
Behavior & temperament
Red Wag Swordtails are active livebearers suited to larger hard-water community tanks. Males may spar and chase females, so provide space, cover, and a sensible sex ratio. They are generally peaceful with unrelated robust community fish.
Diet & feeding
Red Wag Swordtails are omnivorous. Offer quality flakes or pellets, spirulina foods, blanched greens, daphnia, brine shrimp, mosquito larvae, and occasional small frozen foods.
Behind the name
Red Wag describes the red body and dark fin trait; swordtail describes the male caudal extension.
