Fantail Goldfish Care Guide
Carassius auratus var. Fantail · Freshwater Fish

What Fantail Goldfish look like
Fantails are foundational fancy goldfish with rounded bodies, normal eyes, an upright dorsal fin, and a paired double caudal fin. They lack the wen of Orandas and the high hump of Ryukins.
Behavior & temperament
Fantails are peaceful social goldfish that swim more slowly than long-bodied varieties but are sturdier than many extreme fancies. Keep with other fancy goldfish, smooth decor, open swimming room, and strong filtration.
Diet & feeding
Fantail Goldfish are omnivores that do best on sinking goldfish pellets or gel food, vegetable matter, daphnia, brine shrimp, and occasional bloodworms. Avoid overfeeding rich dry foods because round-bodied fancies are prone to buoyancy issues.
Behind the name
Fantail describes the paired caudal fin that opens like a fan.
