Ryukin Goldfish Care Guide
Carassius auratus var. Ryukin · Freshwater Fish

What Ryukin Goldfish look like
Ryukins are deep-bodied fancy goldfish with a distinctive high shoulder hump behind the head. They have an upright dorsal fin, paired double tail, and normal eyes.
Behavior & temperament
Ryukins are active for fancy goldfish and can be pushier at feeding time than delicate varieties. Keep with similarly robust fancy goldfish, not streamlined pond types.
Diet & feeding
Ryukin Goldfish are omnivorous fancy goldfish. Feed sinking goldfish pellets or gel food, blanched greens, daphnia, brine shrimp, and occasional bloodworms. Portion control and clean water are important for the deep body shape.
Behind the name
Ryukin is linked to the Ryukyu Islands and the variety's route into Japan.
