Lionhead Goldfish Care Guide
Carassius auratus var. Lionhead · Freshwater Fish

What Lionhead Goldfish look like
Lionheads are dorsal-less fancy goldfish selected for heavy head growth. They have a rounded body, paired tail, no dorsal fin, and generally a less arched back than Ranchu.
Behavior & temperament
Lionheads are slow and delicate. Keep with other slow fancy goldfish, smooth decor, gentle flow, and strong filtration. Avoid fast long-bodied goldfish and sharp hardscape.
Diet & feeding
Lionhead Goldfish are omnivorous fancies. Feed sinking goldfish pellets or gel food, vegetable matter, daphnia, brine shrimp, and occasional bloodworms. Keep water clean because the wen can trap debris.
Behind the name
Lionhead describes the mane-like fleshy head growth.
